Seeing Sound: Sound Travels in Invisible Waves

context
educate participants that sound is visible at NY Hall of Science

concept
sound travels in invisible waves

content
it consist of 3 parts which are Cymatics, Singing Bowls, Digital ClothWave.

Cymatics: (from Greek: “wave”) the study of visible sound and vibration, a subset of modal phenomena. Typically the surface of a plate, diaphragm, or membrane is vibrated, and regions of maximum and minimum displacement are made visible in a thin coating of particles, paste, or liquid.[1] Different patterns emerge in the exitatory medium depending on the geometry of the plate and the driving frequency.

Singing Bowls: Tibetan Singing Bowl with water inside. Getting the bowl to sing vibrates the water.

ClothWave: Speaking into a microphone triggers the movement of a physical cloth to illustrate the properties of a sound wave 3-dimensionally.
