AUDIO performances
DUO: Yusuke Yamamoto (electro acoustics and loops) & Bradford Reed (pencilina)

• Yusuke Yamamoto: Yusuke handles a wide range of instruments, including: vibraphone, drums, percussion, flute, keys, trumpet, and bass. A unique blend of Asian, Brazilian, and African music, as well as jazz, electro, dub, rock, and contemporary classical, his sound is currently expressed in several very different projects, all based in New York City.

• Bradford Reed: This Brooklyn based composer, performer and producer fights and tames the idiosyncrasies of the pencilina, an original instrument of his own design and construction. The pencilina is an electric ten stringed collision of the hammer dulcimer, slide guitar, koto and fretless bass with six pickups of varied types. It is struck with sticks, plucked and bowed. He provides most of the sonic backdrop for King Missile III, and has put out intricately arranged instrumental music as well.

SOLO: Sawako (laptop)

• Sawako: Tokyo/New York sound sculptor Sawako uses field recordings, mixer feedback, dsp processing, etc., to create works of place and time, and quiet personality. Her work sometimes has a nostalgic intimacy. She understands the value of dynamics and the power in silence.

Plus Phonomena DJs.

VIDEO performances

• David: I’ll be doing some sound-reactive hand-drawn imagery with Yusuke & Bradford’s sounds.

• Sequence3: Tokyo abstract filmmaker/VJ Seq3 has an eye for everyday magic and walks around with an 8mm movie camera or camcorder. The resulting footage is manipulated digitally and often set to music. “Infrastructure,” his DVD release with SEIN on the Concrete label was an internationally respected early hint of what the DVD album has to offer as a new art form.

• Berkoy: Berkoy makes video with figurative imagery and computer processing. Human, sometimes approaching creepy, with a smart sense of humor.

• Adam Kendall: Versatile man-about-town Adam Kendall may be familiar to you through performances in all the good spots in NYC doing sculpty audio and video, and through his own performance series such as F:T:H and {R}ake.

• Plus Chika Iijima and Ilan Katin!
