A reference to the Greek, is an audio-visual representation of the experience and perception of subjective time. CHiKA’s abstract flickering imagery and Zach’s low frequency sine (Alpha) waves are used as a means of evoking rhythms that reflects a relaxed, meditative awareness. This collaborative concept was inspired from a technique called EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) which was developed in the 1980s by Dr. Francine Shapiro, a psychologist who discovered that alternating stimulation between the right and left hemispheres of the brain through repetitive horizontal eye movements; tapping of the hands and/or oscillating sound effects somehow pulls memories from the subconscious into consciousness.

Harvestworks – Founded as a not-for-profit organization by artists in 1977, Harvestworks has helped a generation of artists create new works using technology. Our mission is to support the creation and presentation of art works achieved through the use of new and evolving technologies. Our goals are to create an environment where artists can make work inspired and achieved by electronic media; to create a responsive public context for the appreciation of new work by presenting and disseminating the finished works; to advance the art community’s and the public’s “agenda” for the use of technology in art; and to bring together innovative practitioners from all branches of the arts collaborating in the use of electronic media. We assist with commissions and residencies, production services, education and information programs, and the presentation and distribution of their work.
Galapagos Art Space — In DUMBO, Galapagos Art Space will be able to present the theater, dance, performance art, music, cinema, lectures / literary events, and the non profit fundraising that they believe is their core mission and the most important contribution they can make to their community and they will create New York City’s first LEED certified ‘green’ cultural venue.
{R}ake is a performance series of alternative and collaborativeelectro-acoustic music and video. Performances range from pure improvisation to more structured pieces, with video-artists and musicians working together in exploratory ways.
This month features the “electro” side of electro-acoustic music. Dan Iglesia performs experimental live video with Radio Wonderland/Joshua Fried, who creates electronic music with a laptop and multitude of eclectic devices; Chika reates her audio-reactive, illustrative video with the laptop/electronics duo Lilt Marathon; and Richard Garet creates his self-generated, sometimes aggressive, sometimes environmental video with the abstract electronic audio of WvS.
Monkey Town serves dinner during the show, so come hungry. Seating is limited – It’s a good idea to make reservations on their website.
