SHIiKAKU = 四角, 視覚, 視角, 死角 is a Japanese homophone that translates to "four square", "visual", "optic angle" as well as "blind spot". Embracing these themes and variations, SHiKAKU is a very complex interactive projection mapping installation creates light symphony by public audience.

SHiKAKU/ Digital Zen Garden

Next Step
4 sensors are built into a projection surfaces in center of the space surround by LED light strips. By public audience walking or standing in front of a sensor activates projection onto the other side of projection surface. It manipulates the space based on the real time reactions of the individuals inhabiting it and connects public activator to public viewer unexpectedly through visual contents. Every 4 sides project minimalist geometric patterns to unique compositions abundant in form and color with sound. When and how public audience activate sensors create endless variation of audio visual experience. LED lights are reacted by environmental sound to enhance public interaction. SHiKAKU create symphony of light and sound that activate a dormant location and is a platform for public audience to create audio visual experience in new way.

Unlimited or unmeasurable in extent of space, duration of time: the infinite nature of the fabric of space. I use minimal objects in two-dimensional space to create a video work invoking the feeling of the unlimited possibilities, approaching the unmeasurable nature of the infinite with i8u’s soundscapes.

BLIP FESTIVAL

Blip Festival will bring together performers whose work mines the entire landscape of popular music from pulse pounding dubstep, rave, and rock, to the experimental, avant garde and classical worlds, all while working under the constraints (and often defying) the limitations of vintage machines such as the Commodore 64 and Amiga, the Nintendo Game Boy, and the Sega Genesis. Once these stirring sounds of the junk generation are paired with their motion visualist counterparts, a digital folk art is born out of the toxic detritus of popular culture. Exploding commerce-driven consumer entertainment supply devices into artistically motivated creation engines, Blip Festival artists transmute the immersive experiences of the past into an exciting and visceral live experience.

Complementing the evening performances will be an assortment of engaging daytime events that have previously included workshops and film screenings that expose the inner guts of the movement in a way that is accessible to interested parties of all ages and backgrounds and typical of the accessibility of the chip community’s online culture.

3 day projection mapping marathon workshop, Mappathon© was happened right after Hurricane Sandy hit New York City. Some of our students lost power and heat, We were very please to have 9 talented students during such a difficult time. They commuted from their friend's house to attend our workshop. They learnt, created and showed their projection mapping installations in the end of Mappathon at Reverse Art Space.

Live visual &#38; mapping projection by CHiKA

Translated from the Japanese as “space-time", JiKU (jeekoo) is an audiovisual, experience as well as a large scale site specific live visual projection mapping installation. Grey concrete building, LARVA Theater in Mexico turned into minimalist geometric patterns to colorful unique compositions in real time. Audiences stood on the street for an hour long live visual show. JiKU energized a dormant location, as the artist manipulates the space based on the real time reactions of the individuals inhabiting it.
