CONCEPTSHIKAKU04 emerges as a dynamic six-channel sound-reactive audio-visual installation showcased at Harvestworks.

Rooted in the Japanese homophone SHIKAKU, representing ‘Square’ (四角), ‘Visual’ (視覚), ‘Optic Angle’ (視角), and ‘Blindspot’ (死角) in Chinese characters, this installation embodies a fusion of sensory experiences, responding to its surroundings through adaptive changes in sound and LED lights triggered by audience interaction.

Sound-Responsive Design
SHIKAKU04 serves as an immersive audio-visual experience, dynamically responding to changes in sound and ambiance within its environment. The installation's six-channel setup allows for a multi-dimensional sonic landscape, enhancing the viewer's sensory engagement and creating a dynamic interplay between sound and light.

Audience Interaction
Audience participation plays a central role in shaping the experience of SHIKAKU04, with the installation reacting in real-time to the presence and actions of viewers. This interactive element fosters a sense of connection and agency, empowering participants to co-create the narrative of the installation through their engagement with sound and light.

SHIKAKU Concept
Inspired by the multifaceted meanings of SHIKAKU, the installation embodies notions of symmetry, perception, and exploration. The visual and auditory elements of SHIKAKU04 converge to create an immersive sensory experience that invites viewers to contemplate the interplay between form and perception, light and shadow.

Eyebeam Residency
Developed as part of SHIKAKU07 project during the Eyebeam residency in 2013, SHIKAKU04 represents a culmination of artistic experimentation and technological innovation. The installation's development process was marked by collaboration, experimentation, and a commitment to pushing the boundaries of audio-visual expression.

Harvestworks Showcase
SHIKAKU04 finds its home at Harvestworks, a hub for artistic experimentation and innovation in New York City. The installation's presence at Harvestworks reflects a shared commitment to fostering interdisciplinary collaboration and pushing the boundaries of artistic expression.

SHiKAKU04 stands as a testament to the power of art to transcend boundaries and captivate the senses. By harnessing the expressive potential of sound and light, the installation invites viewers on a journey of exploration and discovery, challenging perceptions and fostering a deeper connection to the world around them.
